1.1.3.1 Acting Mission Commander
During EVAs when the astronaut mission commander is out on an EVA, a senior astronaut must be designated as acting mission commander for the duration of the mission commander’s EVA. The acting mission commander must remain in the habitat until relieved by the mission commander. The acting mission commander assumes all of the duties, responsibilities, and authority of the mission commander until relieved by the mission commander’s return.
