The rank of Director describes a Spacesim member who ranks, either during the mission or oustide of it, immediately below a Commander. The word "Director" really encompasses two seperate categories of ranks, one mission-specific and one not. Unlike with commanders these two bear no correlation to one another.

Non-Mission Specific

A director is just below a Commander in the non-mission specific Administration hierarchy of Spacesim. The rank of Director encompasses the positions of Quartermaster, Webmaster and Wikimaster, as is clarified on the List of Leadership Positions. It is worth noting that Directors in this category have no more authority outside of their domain than any ordinary member of Spacesim. The Quartermaster, for example, only has absolute authority within the confines of Keplernicus. However, any advice given by a director will be taken with the weight due to an older member with a position of responsibility.

Mission Specific

The only currently active Mission-specific Director is the Flight Director, who is in charge of Mission Control during the mission.
