Update Time is the time in seconds, in which the Orbit software is able to update. A lower time means a faster update, where as a higher time means a slower update. The update time is important for Mission Controllers to know what is happening to the Astronauts when it happens. The Current update time of the Orbit software, is 1 second.

Lowering the Update Time

the Update time is limited by many physical factors. CPU speed, and Hard Drive speed are big factors in the update time. In order to lower the update time, running all the software straight off the RAM will limit the number of disc accesses, and thus increase the speed. The bottleneck is then on the CPU.
