The longhouse is the living quarters of the astronauts where they sleep and store their belongings. The astronauts sleep in a bunk bed that is shared with another astronaut. Astronauts choose their bunk bed based on rank. No two high-ranking officers sleep in the same bunk bed, so that the loss of two important officers is less likely in the event of a disaster. The longhouse is very narrow, but is long enough to fit three bunk beds face to face.

Uses Outside the Mission

Outside of the main Mission the Longhouse is primarily used to store large bulky objects such as computers that will not fit inside of Keplernicus. The Longhouse is also used to store members' belongings during worksessions to keep work areas clean.
