The 2016 Halloween Mini-Mission was a specialized thematic mini-mission which occurred on November 4th, 2016. It was orchestrated primarily by Ethan and Callum Wheaton. It was rare in that it included planned breaches of mission integrity and direct interaction between simulators and astronauts.
Lore
The mission lore was a continuation of the lore of the [Red Horizon 2016] mission. In the lore, a team of OCESS astronauts returned to Mars to collect methane samples after the previous mission was a failure. While still descending to the surface, their EECOM systems and those in mission control began to display cryptic messages. Immediately after landing, loud thumping was heard from the roof and walls of the Hawking III and the craft was boarded by the zombified crew of the Mars One mission.
