Flight Director

The flight director acts as the ranking officer in Mission Control when the Mission Commander is not present. A flight director is assigned for every shift where the Mission Commander is not present. The Mission Commander also assigns a flight director who is in charge whenever the mission commander happens to leave mission control to visit the quickie, use the facilities etc.
