To run a club such as Spacesim, a basic command structure has been developed. Although this structure has been changed as possitions are added and taken away, the structure retains a general form. The general form consists of three layers of administration as follows.
Archaic Formats
This system was used until 2007-08. It had two Mission Commanders, two EEPS Commanders, and two Planetarium Commanders, as well as the lesser directors.
Layout
Executive Branch
The Executive branch of the administration deals with running Spacesim as a whole. This group of people consists of the admiral, the Mission Commander, the Education Commander, and the Subcommander. A new commander position was created for 2009-10: the Engineering Commander. These people have sweeping powers over all aspects of Sim and are expected to manage it as a whole; looking after the budget, administering projects, and such things.
Subcommanders
The subcommanders are considered one under the executive branch. Their job is to cover the specific branches of Sim. These include the Planetarium Commander who is the second-in-command under the Education Commander and who is responsible for the educational branch of Sim. The currently defunct PR Director who is in charge of public relations for Spacesim, is also a subcommander as is the Webmaster. This term should be changed to prevent confusion with the deputy Mission Commander, or subcommander.
Directors
The directors are one step lower than subcommanders on the hierarchy. They include the Quartermaster and the Wikimaster, though on the forums the webmaster is included in directors instead of subcommanders. The directors are in charge of specialized areas of Sim, and so therefore are not as important to the club.
