1.3.1 Job Description

AUXCOM is the Mission Control staffer who uses text-based communication in order to communicate with the analogous officer aboard the habitat. The AUXCOM officer should be the same officer as CAPCOM. Remember that they are called AUXiliary COMmunications for a reason; always use the audio line before the visual one.

1.3.2 Typing

There are certain rules that an AUXCOM officer must always follow, and they all concern typing:

  • Type as quickly as you possibly can. The habitat will likely understand your message, even with a couple of typos.
  • Notify the Flight Director every time you recieve a message. Read the message out loud rather than making him or her come over and read it.
  • Only send messages the Flight Director tells you relay, and send all of the messages the Flight Director tells you to relay.
  • Do not send any personal information over AUXCOM, only mission-related information.
