Canadian Space Leaders Roundtable

The Canadian Space Leaders Roundtable (CSLR) is an event associated with the annual Canadian Space Summit. The Roundtable is a gathering of local and national space organisations, who gather in order to learn about opportunities for collaboration on events, and harmonise their messaging vis-a-vis space advocacy. The first CSLR was held in 2009 at Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario.

Spacesim has twice attended the CSLR.

RMC 2009

In 2009, Stefan De Young represented the OCESS at the Inaugural Canadian Space Leaders' Roundtable at Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. The goal of the delegation was to determine interest from other local organisations in supporting Spacesims in their cities. No real progress was made in advancing the agenda of spreading Spacesims abroad.

UWO 2012

In 2012, Stefan De Young again represented the OCESS at the CSLR at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. The goal of the delegation was to determine the goals and alignments of other local and national space advocacy organisations, and potentially align the OCESS agenda with these other organisations. The delegation was to have been led by Samuel Baltz, who regrettably could not attend due to academic engagements.

The University of Western Ontario presented an interesting venue, as it hosts the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX). CPSX uses an analogue mission methodology where researchers will explore a particular environment as if they were astronauts. This led to the delegation's explanation of Spacesim as being an "analogue analogue mission." Some interest was expressed by CPSX representatives that the Spacesim concept could be used to introduce new researchers to the concept of an analogue mission.
