Talk:Flight Director
From OCE Space Simulation
Why if this page is about Flight Director does it mention the "Mission commander" as being the Authority in MC? Mission Commander is responsible for the Astronauts, and cannot influence or order any member of MC. If any member of MC gives the Mission commander an order, the mission commander must follow it, thus showing that the mission commander has no power whatsoever in MC. - Surprisingly enough, no. For reference, see one of my two sources (I can't find the other one --- whatever): List of Leadership Positions. The Mission Commander can't order the Flight Director to do anything while the Mission Commander is aboard the hab, but insofar as outside of the mission the Mission Commander has absolute authority over the mission they can, during a training mission in which they have no mission-specific rank, order the Flight Director to do whatever they want. The same reasoning applies to the Admiral, but we don't list him on the wiki as it's generally understood that the admiral always has absolute authority (as opposed to the mission commander who does not have authority over Simmies, EEPs, Planetariums, or the actual ottawa tech facilities or the organisation thereof). - Darth Wombat 00:34, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- Okay now this page is clear and makes sense. Good Work. IronyFail 11:56, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- In the old days there were two mission commanders: one in MC and one in the Hab. This has changed so that MC Commander is a separate mission-specific rank and both commanders go on the mission. I'll clarify it some when I have time---BenzyneTalk Page 16:43, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- Who is the MC Commander for Daedalus? - Darth Wombat 20:08, 7 February 2010 (EST)
- I think its Ben because he is the one assigning shifts and it seems no one else in MC has a higher rank then him. IronyFail 20:29, 7 February 2010 (EST)
