The 1999 Mission to Phobos is primarily famous for the incident which occured when the fire extinguisher that was being used to simulate a shuttle launch produced a cloud of gas that set off fire alarms, forcing a delay of the launch. Experiments were also conducted on the effects of music on work and the psyche, crystal growth, and capillary action.
