The 2009-10 mission took OCESS to three of the moons of Jupiter: Europa, Ganymede, and Io. The Habitat passed near Io to collect samples of volcanic dust ejected by tectonic activity on the moon's surface, landed on Ganymede to set up Terraforming equipment, and spent the rest of the mission on Europa. An unmanned submersible was put into use there, designed to explore the liquid water ocean and rocky planetary core beneath Europa's surface.
Highlights
- The mission started two days late
- A Twitter account was created to provide live updates from Mission Control and the Habitat, but it was not used much
