As far as he knows, his callsign is "Pika", named so for his infamous [http://ianseraph.deviantart.com/gallery/#Pikapuns pikapuns.] This has been subject to debate.

==Participation in Club==
He was [[quartermaster]] for a period of time in [[2007-08]]. During his reign he organized the shelves and told people where everything was. Other things he did during his first year were become sort of familiar with software (mostly the simmie software), do logs on the Main Mission, and otherwise generally goldbrick about.

He was an [[astronaut]] on the [[2008-09]] mission to Iapetus. His role was [[Able Crewman]]. Over the first few mission-less days, he stayed and help set up the network, buy food, repair things, and otherwise prepare. On the mission he operated various stations, including eecom, logs, capcom, and engineering. He went on an EVA or two and repaired the lights really late at night. He rather enjoyed himself. The rest of the year is mostly forgotten by him because he has a poor memory. He thinks he learned how to pilot but has evidentially forgotten how to by now.

In [[2009-10]] he did a number of things as well. He was the head of the Curtains task force, helped make the Engineering Closet Hatch, worked very briefly on the Rave Cave, dabbled slightly in the network, helped on too many occasions to organize Kelpernicus, and became more acquainted with software, among other things. On the mission he was a member of Mission Control, and served a number of shifts as a replacement Flight Director.

He was the [[Mission Commander]], and thus one of the co-heads of Spacesim with [[Samuel Baltz]], in [[2010-11]]. This meant he was also [[Habitat Commander]] on [[Dragan 2011]]. He was responsible for leading and decision-making aboard the habitat during the mission. He worked with [[Olivia Frank]], the [[Habitat Subcommander]], to organize the astronauts and the habitat for the mission (shifts, food, and other administrative tasks). Along with [[Samuel Baltz]], he decided the mission location of Gliese 581. Throughout the year he made minor contributions to various taskforces, and leading up to the mission, helped with mission-specific tasks such as camera wiring.

In a [[Science Floor#Place of Meeting|meeting]] to decide the name of the mission, Chen-tao suggested "Daedalus", having the starship F-304 Daedalus from the show Stargate: Atlantis in mind. After three rounds of voting, the name somehow survived and christened the mission. During the mission, Chen-tao participated in [[Mission Control|MC]] and occupied various functions, mainly [[LOGS]]. He also kept an HTML personal log available on [[List of Computers#Mission Control Computers|C3-PO]] at [[440]]. He was noted in the court-martial logs for having used important multimedia airwaves to presumably pass messages between [[Becca Kalinger]] and [[Christian Angel]].

After brief consideration and no consultation with current sim members, Stefan appointed Nick to the position of Interim Flight Director, awaiting the return of [[Mission Control Commander]] [[Ben Paul]]. However, Mr. Paul did not seek to appoint another director, and Nick retained the position until 0500 hours Saturday. During his shift he acquitted himself exceedingly well, and after a short nap returned to duty at 1100.

Morgan has a weaker immune system than most people which causes him to get sick a lot. Arrian is a current member of [[OCESS]]. He joined in [[2008-09]] as a grade nine and has been an astronaut on one mission, he has been a simulator in 2008-09 and was in MC as a mission specialist during the [[2009-10]] mission. Arrian also helped out with the general packing up of the old room and the moving to the new room. Arrian was their to see the old room dustless as well as the new room dustless. Once the new [[habitat]] was setup Arrian helped out with the installation of computers, and thus over the year became more proficient in the repair of computers. For the mission of 2008-09 Arrian participated as a [[simulator]] although due to the lack of people in [[MC]] he ended up running MC more then doing duties as a Simulator. During the mission Arrian also created one of the most memorable moments in the mission, the "Circles Don't Turn Moment" in which Arrian looked at Telemetry to see what appeared to be the habitat turning inside of [[AYSE Drive|AYSE]] and used [[CAPCOM]] to scold the astros, but it ended up backfiring as it turned out the habitat was attached to AYSE. If one looks to the Official and UnOfficial logs of [[Genesis 2009]] one will find many references made to this event by [[Ian Martin]]. Arrian also created the [[Tapekachu]] During exam time.As the school year came to a close, Arrian's marks in English were falling, and this is the main contributing factor to why Arrian has been absent at so many Worksessions.

==Callsign==
Samuel Baltz's current callsign is "Moogle". It was changed from "Finland" on February 20, 2010 by [[Bryce Storey]] and [[Maclean Rouble]]. Baltz resisted the change strongly, voicing the opinion that "Finland" was more dignified, but the two commanders co-issued an executive order, stating that they thought that his previous callsign was too boring. Despite voicing strong opposition to this callsign in 2009-10, Baltz has yet to issue an executive order to change it back.

"Moogle" was derived after Crunch Time 2010 in preparation for Mission [[Daedalus]], when [[OCDSB]] inspectors questioned the cleanliness of the facilities and as a result an entire evening was spent cleaning. During this time Baltz spent several hours completely reorganising [[Keplernicus]], which resulted in his knowing the exact location of every object belonging to Spacesim. His unerring accuracy in this department for days on end was a source of comic relief, and as a result he was first named "Keplernicus Boy", then the slightly more imaginative but less accurate "Keplernicus Girl", and finally "Moogle" after the infamous [[Copernicus Moogle]].

His first callsign, "Finland", was derived approximately two minutes after the start of his first [[Work Session]]. It was assigned to him after a confusing chain of logic had been perpetuated by [[Euan Wheaton]]. In easy-to-read graphic format, complete with arrows, it is best summarized by:

For most of its history, Spacesim has been a small organization, often having problems filling roles of the mission. However, in recent years, Spacesim has more than doubled in size, including many people that only occasionally attend and others who, not being Lisgar students, are unable to attend the administrative lunch meetings. This leads to a new conundrum – keeping track of the number of members, as well as their various certifications, and general worksession/lunch meeting attendance.
In order to solve this problem, I propose, first of all, a set of criteria that defines an ‘official member’ and their rights, responsibilities and privileges; and second, an index of members on the local Spacesim computer network that includes their certifications and progress. This index would be similar to that of the wiki, but would be restricted to the local network only, and therefore only accessible by Spacesim members at 440 Albert Street. Also, by applying some basic programming, the index can be searched with keywords such as ‘ENG instructor’ or ‘solder cert’ to find the information you are looking for.

== Member Criteria ==

While the automatic reaction to the concept of member prerequisites might initially be negative, some sort of system must be established; and none of the criteria is unachievable or dependent on conditions that cannot be helped. Spacesim is and always will be an inclusive rather than exclusive club.
The suggested criteria would take a form somewhat like this checklist;

 The person in question has attended four worksessions at 440 Albert Street.

 The person in question, if a student at Lisgar Collegiate Institute, has attended four lunch meetings.

 The person in question has begun station training and has at least an ‘In Progress’ certification on two stations or more.

 The person in question is aware and capable of CAPCOM and AUXCOM procedures.

 The person in question can sign the American Sign Language alphabet through once with minimal prompting.

 The person in question knows rudimentary First Aid and CPR

 Membership expires if the member in question has not attended either a lunch meeting or a worksession in four months (a full semester). When a membership expires, the member’s folder is moved into an ‘Expired’ folder. If they re-attend a worksession, their folder is moved back in with the active members, and the timer is reset. At the end of the year, the folder is deleted permanently.

This checklist would, of course, be dependent on the two commanders of the year. In short, a ‘member’ would be whatever a commander decides it is, compiling some sort of checklist at the beginning of the year to use to complete the index.

It would also contain Spacesim-related information, such as current position in Spacesim, previously held positions, noteworthy task forces headed and missions participated in.
The certification card would include EECOM, CAPCOM, Engineering, Flight/Telemetry and AUXCOM, as well as certifications for soldering, First Aid/CPR, and power tools. (These new certifications have been added after the Eric Leighton tragedy to make sure that all members understand the tools they are using and the proper safety procedures for them, as well as ensuring that all members are capable of basic First Aid in case of an emergency.)
Finally, with some basic programming, a search engine can be installed in the index, making it easier for the user to find the information they need quickly and efficiently.

== Benefits ==

Keeping track of the number of members, as well as their grades and qualifications and equipped with a search engine, comes with many benefits.
First, it becomes far easier for someone wishing to be trained to see who is certified at an Instructor-level for any given station. The installation of a search engine especially will make it a simple process to search for ‘ENG instructor’ (Instructor-level in Engineering). Inversely, an instructor not otherwise occupied and looking for someone to teach could simply enter something along the lines of ‘orbit in progress’ in order to see which members needed training.
Secondly, having a solid number of members (as well as a comprehensive list) opens up new possibilities for funding. An organization is far less likely to donate money or tools to an undefined amount of children as they are to a well-organized, well-defined and precisely numerated club.
Finally, having the certification cards on hand in an easily printed format means that, once we have a working printer, they can be printed out during mission times and stuck next to the person’s name on the shift whiteboard – or alternatively, pinned to the person’s shirt. This turns the task of assigning people to stations into a relatively simple job, easing the load on the Flight Director.
In conclusion, an Official OCESS Member Certification System would solve or otherwise minimize various problems caused by the new rise in interest and membership in OCESS. I believe that the implementation of this program would be a positive addition to Spacesim, and am perfectly willing to take charge of its creation.
