The OCESS has occupied three locations over the 19 years of its existance. For the first three years, when there was no permanent '''[[Habitat]]''', things were run at (?). In 1990(?), the school board provided the OCDSB Administrative building located at 440 Albert street - the old Ottawa Technical high school. The OCESS occupied a room that had been used previously as a car mechanic's classroom, and had the space to fit several cars simultaeneously.

In 1998, the school board began the process of selling the Tech building, and the OCESS was forced to move to another location: the Ottawa Carleton Educational Media Centre on Bronson Ave. A room on the second floor was remodeled and wired specifically for the OCESS, and missions were run there for three(?) years. At this point, the space in the Media Centre was required by the board. Fortuantely, the Tech building had not been sold after all, and the OCESS was given back its original location at 440 Albert, where it remains to this day.

Admiral

The position of Admiral is the highest ranking within the OCESS, and is permanantly held by the "Teacher Advisor" of the club.

At the program's founding, Terry Pritchett was the Teacher Advisor. He held this position until 1997, when he left due to medical leave (pending retirement). Maureen McLean took the position of interim Teacher Advisor for the '''[[1997-98]]''' mission. Craig Hussey then took over the position full-time in 1998, finishing in 2002.

The position is currently held by Dr. James Magwood with no end to his reign in sight.

The spacesim office is located at the site of Lisgar Collegiate Institute, a high school in downtown Ottawa. It is on the top floor of the North building, at the far Eastern end of the hall. The office is mainly used as a lunch time hangout for those seeking sanctuary from the bustle of the halls, or those who seek the warmth of a glowing cathode ray tube.

Historically, the office has been in official control of the teacher-advisor. However, since its creation during the renovation of the '''[[Science Floor]]''', it has been occupied by students. Because of this, keys are provided to the Commanders, one of whom must be present when other students are using the office.

The so-called "Science floor" of Lisgar collegiate institute is located near the top of the "North Building" and is the highest floor in use besides the attic. This floor houses, in addition to all science classes (AP Chem excepted), various Tech (Computer courses) and Visual Arts classes.

The science floor, formerely reffered to as the third floor, has been, in the wisdom of the OCDSB, redubbed, the fourth floor. A name that as well as being counter-intuitive, grates upon those who used the superior (I mean: old) numbering system.

Historically, the OCESS has used the science floor as a meeting place, holding Wednesday meetings in one of its classrooms. Prior to the 1997 renovation, many of these classrooms were furnished with permanent double lab-desks. The much-needed remodeling removed these permanent installations and replaced them with more flexible open-centred rooms, having the lab areas around the outside.

The 1997 renovation also resulted in the creation of a room at the end of the hallway which became the office of the OCESS teacher-advisor. As the teacher-advisor at the time had little use for more office space, the room was occupied by the student membership and quickly became known as the SpaceSim '''[[Office]]'''.

Lexington High School (LHS) was the location of the OCESS's sister program throughout the 1990's. Prior to the program's collapse in 1999, the simulation at LHS was involved in a yearly student '''[[exchange]]''' with the OCESS.

For many years, the OCESS ran a student exchange with its sister program in '''[[Lexington]]''', South Carolina, run out of '''[[Lexington High School]]''' (LHS). Two or three students from each program were sent to participate in the mission run by the other. Both missions were run simultaneously, usually with some form of continuous communication between the two mission control sites (via webcam, for example).

Unfortunately, the last exchange took place in 1999. The following year saw the collapse of the LHS program when its teacher-advisor transferred to a different school, and the student membership was unable to continue on its own.

Exchanges took place in the following years: 1995-1996, 1996-1997, 1998-1999.
